The R was too much for me to handle and not anonymous enough, so I got a Corolla LE. It's not too flashy, but it's pretty exclusive, since it's a Limited Edition (LE).
I almost got a Camry, but it was slightly too 'grounded' for me. It's still got the stuff that us guys like, like the rims and the sleekness to the body.
I must say, my Volvo was a little sportier, but I didn't feel it was important to get the Corolla in the S Trim. Why would I when the Corolla's CVT has an 'S' Mode? When in Sport Mode, the automated gear shifts go longer. Who needs an exhaust when you can hear that beautiful CVT drone?
P.S. It's a rental car. I would never subject myself to Corolla ownership. I never understood how people fell asleep behind the wheel until I drove this thing. However, it is kind of nice getting 32MPG and not having to avoid potholes or going over speed bumps below 5mph.

Phew, I almost though you bought one. That would be the ultimate downgrade, "Man goes from Volvo S60R with the spaceball to a base model Corolla."

I'm goosin' the $hit out of this thing. I'm also in 'S Mode' most of the time (I don't think that matters though).

i'm going with my brother-in-law to test drive this and a Camry. I'll be bringing a super-sized coffee so i can stay awake. In a last ditch effort to prevent this, i'm going to teach him how to 5-speed. Maybe the WRX will infect him with the enjoyment of driving. Otherwise he just views a car as an appliance to get from point A to point B, which unfortunately makes the Corolla a good choice for him.

WOAAAAH BRO IS THAT A LIMITED EDITION COROLLA?! lol i had a rental RAV4 I'm guessing drives very similarly but hitting off ramps in L.A at speed meant leaaaaaaaaning

Hahaha fair enough. I love rentals for that very reason - beat on them like crazy and never worry about the long-term repercussions!

Sir, this is a Corolla . Not only does it have an upscale leather-sticked dashboard, but it also has faux carbon fiber accents on both the front and rear bumpers. I'm assuming it's for weight reduction. You'd think they'd save that for the S Trim, but I guess it's one of the many perks of the LE!
